Speckled Alder
Alnus incana ssp. rugosa
Speckled Alder is a fast-growing native shrub perfectly suited for wet environments. Reaching 15-25 feet, it forms dense thickets that prevent erosion and provide wildlife habitat. Recognizable by white-speckled bark, it produces spring catkins and decorative reddish-brown cones lasting through winter. An excellent choice for wetland restoration and streambank stabilization projects.
