Asimina triloba

This perennial tree or shrub grows between 10 - 40 feet tall. The large fruits (5 to 16 ounces) ripen between August and October. Fruits have a thin skin, which contain a yellow custard-like pulp that is said to taste like papaya. Paw Paws require cross pollination to produce a good crop of viable fruit and are fly pollinated.

The seedlings are common (not a cultivar), unsexed, seed propagated.
