Blake’s Pride ripens in mid-September and is good for fresh eating and preserving. A productive, hearty variety. This tree bears large crops of medium-size fruit featuring glossy yellow skin with tan-russet hues.
These pears store well and are good for fresh eating, canning or making desserts or pear butter. Tree is disease-resistant to fire blight and has an upright growth habit. Heat-tolerant. Harvest in early September. Best pollinators: Bartlett or Beurre Bosc.
Current Sale Size: min. 1/2 - 3/4" caliper, 5-6 ft. bare-root transplant. Partially self-fertile.
Rootstock: OHxF-87. "The recommended spacing for plantings on this rootstock is 12’ between trees in the row and 20’ between rows. For growers who wish to plant a higher density pear orchard, we recommend planting trees on OHxF87. These can be planted at 5’ in row and 12-14’ between rows. "
